Chickenshop's humble beginnings started life in 1996 from a small shop on Kirkcaldy High Street and called itself 'The Joke Factory'. Quickly it became a popular place in town and word started to spread. Soon after starting, the shop took the step of getting an online presence on the World Wide Web and became such a big hit, that in 1999 it took a life of its own, changed name to The Chickenshop and branched out into the big world of on-line retailing, where we were one of the first fancy dress companies to create a fully e-commerce site and became one of Scotland's largest fancy dress companies.

Then in June 2008, when we could no longer swing the cat, we moved further along the High Street to a bigger store so that we could fit our ever expanding range of costumes & accessories and also start our new venture of Balloon decoration for Weddings & Birthdays from our original shop.

The following year, we added to our party services again when we invested in some printing equipment to enable us to provide personalised t-shirts for the ever popular Stag & Hen Parties. And just recently, along with being able to print any design on all clothing, we bought some new equipment to produce personalised mugs, jig-saws, keyrings, mousemats... well, pretty much anything you could want.

Then in April this year, The Chickenshop reached another milestone when new owners took over, hoping we can bring a new lease of life to such a long standing name in the fancy dress world.

So as of August 2011, our new website was born! We hope you'll like it. Not only do we hope to have a fun & friendly company, we also aim to be as competitive as we can in providing value for money to our customers to go hand in hand with our personal service. So if you're in town, or on the lookout for something for your party, why not come down to our shop where you can see a wide range of costumes and party supplies. You can take full use of our changing facilities and see what costume is right for you. Our staff are always happy to help and often come up with helpful advice in costumes and party suggestions! And for anyone looking for balloons, we have expertly trained designers that will show you things you never thought possible! We can even put gifts inside balloons!
